The 1,100-acre Van Meter State Park is home to the remnants of a Missouria Indian village. Several burial mounds and earthworks can be seen at the park. The park provides excellent opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and an 18-acre fishing lake. Camping, hiking, picnicking, fishing and boating are all popular here.
The park provides seven hiking trails that equal about six miles in length when combined.
